Oregon & Washington Personal Injury Law

We know how insurance companies think. We’ve been on both sides.

Several of our attorneys spent years representing insurance companies, evaluating claims and advising on how injuries are valued and defended. Today, they use that firsthand insight to help injured Oregonians pursue the compensation they deserve.

The Problem

The insurance company already has lawyers.
Now you do too.

Before representing injured people, several of our attorneys spent years on the other side, evaluating claims for insurance companies and building the defense strategies the industry still relies on. They learned every tactic in the book, from the inside.

“We know exactly what they’re doing.
Because we used to do it for them.”

Right now, you’re probably facing:

01

Your bills are piling up, and the insurance adjuster is asking you to give a recorded statement.

02

You're being offered a quick settlement that sounds reasonable, but you have no idea if it's actually fair.

03

You're in pain, you can't work, and nobody will tell you what your case is actually worth.

You didn’t cause this situation. But you need someone who knows how to fight it from the inside.

We Know Their Playbook

We know how the insurance defense is built.
Now we take it apart.

Several of our attorneys spent years defending insurance companies, evaluating claims and building the strategies the other side still uses. They know the playbook because they used to be the ones running it.

The insurance playbook

01

Delay

Adjusters are trained to stall claims until your options run out and your resolve weakens.

02

Pressure

Defense lawyers push injured people toward early settlements worth a fraction of what they're owed.

03

Deny

Coverage quietly disappears before most people realize they even have a claim.

Wrongful Death·Washington County

The adjuster called before the funeral.

A widow in her early 60s was told by the insurance company, within 48 hours of the crash, that her husband was at fault. She had no income of her own and was weeks from foreclosure. We obtained the crash reconstruction report, tracked down two witnesses the adjuster had never contacted, and found what actually happened. The carrier settled for $1.4 million.

Workplace Injury·Washington County

Amazon said he was a contractor. We proved otherwise.

A delivery driver suffered a serious spinal injury when unsecured cargo shifted during a warehouse route. Amazon's defense: classify him as an independent contractor with no workplace protections. We built the employment relationship argument from route assignment records, training documentation, and Amazon's own internal safety directives. They settled before a jury heard a word.

Settled before trial
Serious Injury·Multnomah County

Two tours overseas. They offered him $12,000.

A veteran returning from his second deployment was badly injured in a slip-and-fall at a national retailer. The store's attorneys filed a contributory negligence defense and opened at $12,000. We documented every safety failure on that floor, retained a liability expert, and pushed the case to mediation. He walked out with $400,000.

Client Stories

What our clients say.

I had such a great experience working with this law firm. From start to finish, they were incredibly easy to work with and made the entire process feel smooth and stress-free. Their communication was amazing: always responsive, clear, and willing to answer any questions I had along the way. I truly appreciate everything they did for me and the level of care and professionalism they showed. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a reliable and supportive legal team!

The Complaint

They raised your premiums.
They lowered their service.

Insurance used to mean a person who drove out, looked at the car, and paid a fair claim. Then the local offices closed. The adjusters became regional call centers. The people who were supposed to help you became a queue, a claim number, and a script written to pay you as little as possible.

You held up your end for years. The premium cleared every month without a complaint. Then, at the exact moment you needed them, the nitpicking started.

“The moment you need the insurance company most, that’s the moment they start nitpicking. Aggressively.”

Paul Vames · Partner

Paul spent thirteen years inside that system before he switched sides. He watched it change from the inside. Now the whole job, on your side of the table, is dragging them back to it.

For Attorneys

We work with referring attorneys.

If you have a client with a personal injury or wrongful death claim outside your practice area, we want to hear from you. We handle the litigation. You keep the relationship.

emery@vameswang.com · (503) 669-3426

We take the cases other firms return.

Complex liability, catastrophic injury, long-timeline litigation against well-funded defendants. We have the infrastructure for cases that take years and the expert network to win them.

Your client stays your client.

We work with referring attorneys, not around them. You stay in the loop throughout. The relationship you built is the one you keep when the case is over.

Referral fees, handled cleanly.

We pay referral fees in compliance with Oregon and Washington Bar rules. Client consent in writing. No surprises, no awkward conversations, no confusion about who is responsible for what.

Available 24/7

The #1 complaint about law firms:
you can’t reach anyone.

We take that seriously. Our AI case assistant is available around the clock. It knows our practice areas, statute of limitations deadlines, and what to do in the first 48 hours after an accident. It won’t give you legal advice or pressure you toward anything.

When you need a real person, every attorney at this firm has a direct line. You’ll talk to the person fighting for you, not a receptionist running a script.
