Jon focuses his practice on employment law and civil rights. In the area of employment law, Jon has extensive experience in cases involving employment discrimination, retaliation, whistleblowing, wage-and-hour violations, and denial of unemployment benefits. In recent years, Jon’s years of service on a state licensing board (the Oregon Board of Psychology) have led to a strong interest in cases involving clients’ efforts to protect (or regain) professional/provider certification or licensure.

Finally, in the area of civil rights, Jon has many years of experience defending the state and federal rights of those who have been imprisoned wrongfully or have been subject to incarceration under unlawful conditions. Jon’s particular areas of interest involve post-conviction relief, state and federal habeas corpus relief, and Section 1983 litigation.
